[Book Review] “Youtube Secrets” By Sean Cannell and Benji Travis

Introduction

YouTube Secrets is a self-help book that gives you tools and techniques about how you can set up, grow, and make money through YouTube. It gives you a complete idea of how to grow your YouTube channel. At the start of every chapter, there are inspirational and motivational quotes by famous authors. The book is pretty interesting to read. So, the book is divided into two parts:

Part I: The Seven Cs

Part II: Tactics

I will talk about Part One first, the seven Cs.

The Seven Cs are: courage, clarity, channel, content, consistency, community, and cash.

1. Courage: Courage talks about igniting passion and transcending fear, which means you should find your passion before coming on YouTube as a YouTuber. So, passion is anything for which you strongly feel and want to do something in your life, like if you have a hobby and you follow it passionately and want to earn money from it. Hence, if you want to be a YouTuber, you must have a hobby for which you are passionate and the courage to start a YouTube channel.
2. Clarity: Clarity means that you should be clear about what niche you want to upload videos to on YouTube. You should have a clear idea of what type of content you want to put on YouTube as a YouTuber.
3. Channel: The channel topic covers the details about how your YouTube channel will look and the overall look and feel of your YouTube channel. Youtube features such as banner image, profile image, layout, branding, basic info, etc.
4. Content: The content topic gives you ideas about your content on YouTube, like in what category your videos would fall, how you will set your thumbnail, editing, uploading stuff, making shorts, how your videos will stand out and reach the target audience, the consistency factor, and about getting more views and subscribers on your channel.
5. Consistency: This topic covers the content about being regular on YouTube, like if you upload one video per week, then you have to upload one video per week regularly; that is consistency. It is similar for monthly uploads. You should follow this consistency rule so that you will gain more views and subscribers.
6. Community: The community topic covers content about interaction with your audience, like, for example, interaction in comments, posts, and polls. Also, it covers how you can grow your community more and more and how you can learn from other people’s posts.
7. Cash: This topic covers the monetization process through a YouTube partnership program, through affiliate marketing, and other ways of monetizing your YouTube channel.

Now I will talk about part second, which is tactics.

Tactics topics cover all about bettering your YouTube channel, topics like the perfect video recipe, which gives you the steps so that you can make your videos better and present them on YouTube, Social media: good, bad, and ugly aspects of it, Collaboration, how you can team up with other YouTubers and make one video for YouTube that will help in the growth of YouTubers, teamwork: working in a team so that supports you in growth if you have various or multiple tasks to do, trends: following trends so that you will not be left behind and making trendy videos; new YouTube features: added features on YouTube; Conclusion: The book is concluded in this part, and then an appendix section is there that gives you additional features in relation to YouTube.
