Overview:-

My review:-

The story is of a village in the hills of Uttarakhand where three children, Usha, Binya, and Suresh, lived. The winds hurriedly swept over the hills and passed through the tall pines and deodars. There was a haunted hill, little trees and bushes to stop the winds, and the ruins of what had once been a settlement. People keep stones on the roofs to prevent their clothes from blowing. The haunted hill was famous because once there lived a British family, and one of their houses was burned due to lightning, and everyone was killed. Hence, the ghosts of two children come on the hill.

So, one day, Usha went to the nearby market to buy some things, and she also had to repair the sleepers of her mother. So, she went and got everything done. She stayed in the house of her aunt and had a cup of tea. Then she left for her house. When she was coming, the winds were blowing fast, and she felt a thick raindrop on her face, and suddenly, in a moment, it started raining heavily. Usha took shelter on the haunted hill.

This novella is created in such a manner that it will entertain you as well as spook you a little. You will get to experience the beauty of hills in this novella, and the writing style is just astounding. Ruskin Bond always amazes us with his writing style and the whole book is illustrated. You will enjoy reading this lovely novella.

So, the question here is, will Usha be able to return to her house? Do read the book to know.

Ending notes:-
